Tropikon top track form this album “Süpürgesi Yoncadan”, a mixture of exotic Turkish grooves with a few disco winks . “Message In Our Music Vol. 2” is the new compilation from “Waxist” on SOL Discos , a sublabel of Favorite Recordings. It includes a selection of Rare Modern Soul Tracks, that have taken more than two years to research. Another bomb for Tropical Club Dj´s is the new EP from David Walters. His track “Mama” is a “must have” if you are looking for tropical tracks to play on the dance floor. Also new in, the new maxi “Recalling You” by Andre Solomko, a Disco jazz Funk piece of art, with an extended Disco version and exclusive Dub version by Charles Maurice. And for Caribbean lovers, the eagerly anticipated compilation from Erick Cosaque by Heavenly Sweetness.
Following their hotly tipped 2018 debut album “On” – Altın Gün returns with an exhilarating second album. “Gece” firmly establishes the band as essential interpreters of the Anatolian rock and folk legacy and as a leading voice in the emergent global psych-rock scene. Explosive, funky and transcendent.
SOL Discos is extremely happy to introduce the second volume of their Message In Our Music compilation series, selected by Waxist. This album is the result of more than two years of work in researching the original recordings, the artists involved & licensing the different songs. Focusing once again on the Modern-Soul genre, the album brings back to light eight extremely rare songs from the mid-70’s to the mid-80’s, all officially licensed.
Ahead of his upcoming album in 2020 on Heavenly Sweetness, here’s is the first taste, ‘Mama’. A track in which the balafon’s woody resonance takes centre stage, some meditative flute and the female choruses give David Creole roots some real shine. David Walters thought, conceived and produced the track in close collaboration with Patchworks. Hammering bass and snare drum hits, David entrusted the direction of rhythmic to Patchworks and these new digital elements have transformed the original softness into a new West Indies boiling example of soundsystem.
Favorite Recordings proudly presents Recalling You, a dazzling Disco/Jazz-Funk new single EP by our longtime friend and label mate Andre Solomko. To make it short, “I Recall” and “Teasing You” fell in love and had a baby at the nightclub… here comes Recalling You, packed in a 45rpm 12inch vinyl edition and coming with a hot Dub edit by Charles Maurice on B-side.
A strong, rough, plump voice with the typical tone heard in the creole outdoor musical gatherings. Erick Cosaque’s voice is made to go over and above the two boula drums and the makè drum which are associated in general, along a few light percussions, with the Guadeloupean gwo ka. Whether heard at an informal street corner kout’ tanbou, during a traditional evening at someone’s place or in the musical léwoz of a community center, his warm yet imperial voice has been known by West Indians, in the islands and in the mainland through music, radio and television thanks to a career spanning more than forty five years – about twenty solo albums, forty or so participations and collaborations with artists of all generations and genres within the Caribbean music scene.
